Friends Vs. Friendly: Why You’re Responsible For The People You Let Into Your Life

Contents

At 17, after I got out of jail and rehab (long story), I had to rebuild my group of friends.

    It was tough.

    I had to change high-school.

Keep my distance from past influences.

    Build new relationships.

At times I felt lonely but for me it truly was a matter of life & death.

That’s why I feel blessed to have gone through those challenging times.

It taught me the impact of who I spend time with and how that affects my life.

Since then I’ve decided to only spend time with people who are positive, support my mission for my life and have a caring heart.

But what about family members, and old friends?

I get asked that all the time.

That’s why I shot this video.

I want to share a strategy my buddy Garrett taught me called Friends vs. Friendly.

    The concept is simple.

    – Friendly: Be polite, say hi… but NEVER say things like; let’s catch up, do lunch or plan weekends together, OR accept their invites.

    – Friends: You need to seek them out. Have a genuine interest, ask questions, find opportunities to help. Offer opportunities to connect. Spend as much time as you can with them.

If you want to go even deeper, you might consider a Friendventory, and just cut people out of your life.

    Yep, I said it.

You don’t have to be friends with everyone.

If this is a hard pill to swallow, then don’t be disappointed if your business (and happiness) suffers because of it.

Trust me, there’s a direct correlation between the people you spend time with and your ability to create value (build a business) in this world.

Some tough love but it’s because I care about you!
